About the Goddard Education Foundation
In 2013, a task force of education leaders conducted a feasibility study for an education foundation to serve Goddard Public School Students. The committee determined that the formation of a foundation would generate resources to support educational excellence and student success in USD 265. Additionally, the committee concluded that changes in the state tax policy decreased funding to the district and negatively impacted students and staff. With the unanimous recommendation of the Feasibility Study Committee and with the voice of support by the Goddard Board of Education, work to organize a foundation began. The Goddard Education Foundation was established in 2014 as an independent nonprofit 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) community based organization with a mission to provide resources and enrich educational opportunities for the students of USD 265.
The Goddard School District is built on a rich tradition of educational excellence and opportunities for all students. The mission of the district is to educate all students for lifelong success.
Goddard education since 1885…Education for students in Goddard began at Oak Street with the construction of the first school in 1885, and history documents the 1912 class of three young women as the first Goddard High School graduates. The Goddard District continues to grow with enrollment increasing annually over the last thirty years.
Education in the 21st century…Currently the Goddard District is educating over 5500 students, in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade in thirteen schools. The district is home to five elementary schools, two intermediate schools, two middle schools, two high schools and the Goddard Academy.
Enrollment continues to grow annually in the district which serves families in the 65-square miles from Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport to Lake Afton. Increasing student population stems from a rich tradition of educational excellence and opportunities for all students. Guiding this commitment for educational excellence in the 21st century are core values developed in partnership with the Board of Education, staff, and community members. The core values of Goddard Public Schools are:
1. All students can learn and must have access to resources which maximize their opportunities for post-secondary and career success.
2. Education is a shared responsibility. Students, parents, community members, and the district must be active partners in this process.
3. Status quo is not acceptable. We must pursue excellence in providing diverse and advanced opportunities for all students.
4. We must continue to recruit, develop and retain world class staff members throughout the district.
5. The district must provide a safe, caring and connected learning environment to educate the whole child academically, physically, and socially.
The mission of the Goddard Education Foundation (GEF) is to provide resources designed to enrich educational opportunities to the students of USD 265 through an independent nonprofit community based organization.
