George Tomlin

he Goddard Education Foundation honors the memory of Mr. George H. Tomlin, who passed away on November 1, 2025, at the age of 95. A devoted husband, father,

grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Mr. Tomlin leaves behind a legacy of family, service, and community leadership.

A proud graduate of the University of Missouri – Columbia with a degree in Civil Engineering, Mr. Tomlin served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his service, he built a successful career as owner and operator of Major Inc., a concrete and paving company responsible for major interstate and highway projects nationwide. His work helped shape the infrastructure that connects communities across the country.

Mr. Tomlin brought that same commitment to building and strengthening community to Goddard Public Schools, where he faithfully served on the Board of Education from the mid-1970s through the early 1980s, including time as Board President. His leadership helped lay the foundation for the continued growth and success of our school district.

Mr. Tomlin is survived by his wife, Dorris Ellen Tomlin; daughters Kay (Cliff) Premer and Julie Lee (Michael) Hull; son Lance Tomlin; grandchildren Charlotte (Erick), Amanda (Ted), and Byron; brother Horace “Tommy” Tomlin; sister Jeane Thon; and five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Earl and Mary Ella Tomlin, and brother Lee Tomlin.
